1. What does this mean for me?

  • For now, continue to bank as you normally do. Throughout this transition and after we become a new company, you’ll continue to receive the high-quality service you have come to expect from both our institutions. This highly complementary combination will enable us to accelerate investment in transformative technology to embrace disruption and create a more distinctive client experience. Together, we will be better positioned to serve you, delivering the best of both institutions’ talents, systems and processes. Both BB&T and SunTrust remain committed to providing you with an industry-leading client experience.

2. Will my day-to-day contact/relationship manager at SunTrust or BB&T change? Who will I be a client of?

  • For now, it remains business as usual and your day-to-day contact does not change. You should continue to bank as you normally do. SunTrust and BB&T remain separate companies until the transaction is complete.
  • The actual changeover to a combined company will happen much later, toward the end of 2019, pending all shareholder and regulatory approvals. Rest assured, we remain committed to helping clients achieve economic success and will preserve the community bank model. We will maintain close ties with our shared local communities, and we will provide you with much more information in the coming months to make this a smooth transition for you.

3. What do I need to do right now?

  • Nothing. For now, continue to bank as you normally do. Both companies will continue to be here for you to meet your banking needs, whether it’s opening another deposit account or applying for a loan. It’s business as usual.
  • The actual changeover to a combined company will happen much later, toward the end of 2019, pending all shareholder and regulatory approvals. Once that has happened we will reach out to you directly about the next steps and what information you need about your accounts.

4. Will there be any changes to my accounts? Services provided? Can I still use my regular branches, checks, ATMs and cards?

  • For now, it remains business as usual and nothing changes. Towards the end of 2019, we will follow-up with additional information. Our goal, as always, is a seamless process for you and all our clients.

5. I am currently a client of both SunTrust and BB&T. Will my accounts be consolidated?  How will this affect the FDIC insurance on my deposit accounts? How will this transaction affect me?

  • For now, it remains business as usual and nothing changes. Towards the end of 2019, we will follow-up with additional information. Our goal, as always, is a seamless process for you and all our clients.

6. Will your service offering be different? How will your client service change?

  • Our service offerings and client service will only be better as a result of this transaction. This highly complementary combination will enable us to accelerate investment in transformative technology to embrace disruption and create a more distinctive client experience. Together, we will be better positioned to serve you, delivering the best of both institutions’ talents, systems and processes. As a combined company, we are committed to delivering a superior client experience.

7. Will any branches close? Which ones?

  • We do anticipate branch closings as a result of this transaction, but we are making those decisions over the next several months and won’t have details to share for quite some time. We will provide more of these details later this year and promise that you will be promptly notified if it affects you. While some branches may close, our commitment to being an active member of our communities is unwavering, and local branches will continue to play a key role for us in the combined company.
